Wedding Photography in Chorley

Weddings Photography in Chorley can busy, beautiful and yes, even stressful events. And in the hustle and bustle of everything that makes a wedding, well, a wedding, it’s not hard to imagine that something might get missed. That’s understandable, but you want to make sure that ‘something’ doesn’t fall under the category of missed wedding photographs. That is why one of the most important aspects of wedding planning needs to be the selection of your Chorley wedding photographer.

Remember… long after the cake has been eaten and the wedding dress is pushed to the back of the attic, you’ll still be looking at your wedding pictures and remembering the joy of your special day in Chorley.

Most Lancs wedding photographers have a check-list they go by; one the bride and groom are usually asked to fill out prior to the wedding. If not, make sure you provide the Lancs photographer with a list of what photos you want taken. If you are unsure of what you should include in that list, you can find photo check lists in bridal magazines and websites such as shutterfly.com or knotforlife.com. Not using a checklist is asking for trouble… and missed photo ops you’ll never have again. To avoid this unfortunate mishap, make a point to select someone (the bride’s mum, a favourite aunt or sister in-law) who will be responsible for working with the Chorley photographer; a checks and balances system, you might say.

Owen and Melissa would have benefited greatly from doing so; things got so hectic that they ended up without a single shot of just the two of them! Thank goodness for cropping tools on photo sites!

Other tips to keep in mind when hiring your Lancs wedding photographer include:

Examining their portfolio. Do you like their work? Are they creative? Is the lighting and exposure up to par?
Ask for references and follow up by contacting one or two of them.
Remember that not all Chorley wedding photographers need to be ‘professionals’. There are plenty of hobby photographers whose work is top quality and definitely wedding-worthy. Ask family and friends for suggestions, contact your local photography club or the photo-journalism department of a nearby college or university.
Make sure the photographer fully explains what you are getting for your money. Are you getting full rights to the photos? How much time is included in the price? How long will it be before you receive your photos?
Get it in writing. This includes receipts for payments made and a ‘contract’ for what you are receiving in return for your payment.
Feel comfortable with the photographer. Do they listen to what you want?
Your Chorley Lancs wedding photographer will most likely take up a fair amount of your wedding budget. That’s why it is important to get as much for your money as possible without compromising the quality of your photos.

What is your wedding photography style?
A relaxed and informal style. Also called photojournalistic or reportage.
This unobtrusive approach allows for more relaxed pictures that tell a story.
That doesn’t mean there isn’t time for some gorgeous, relaxed and fun posed pictures of the bride and groom together.
This is a great time to use the venue as a backdrop and create some wonderful memories.
Pictures of your guests are almost all photojournalistic. I won’t stop them and ask them to ‘say cheese’, but
rather capture them laughing, smiling and having a great time.

How about posed family photos?
They are really important pictures to take. This is an important time in your family history so absolutely I will
take them. I would suggest no more than 10 to 12 as a really long list can take me away from the story telling approach.
I will work quickly with these groupings and make them relaxed and fun.

How long will it take before we receive the photographs?
6 weeks after the wedding, the online gallery will be available.
Printed images can be purchased online.
Upon final approval, albums take about 12 weeks to be delivered.

How many pictures will we receive?
Typically, the number depends on a number of factors. Number of guests, hours covered etc.
The average for an 8 hour day, 650 but this depends on the day itself.

Do we get to keep the negatives?
The hi-res files (the modern equivalent of negatives), will be edited and presented to you.
You can print from these as much as you like. I will provie you with a written release to do this.
I do retain copyright of the photographs, and the right to use them for promotional purposes, competitions etc.

Do you offer engagement sessions?
Of course. A pre-wedding shoot is a great way for us to get to know each other, and once you have seen how great you
look you, you will be super confident on the day itself.
